Holly Ridge is a par 54 course and more than just a friendly place to play. Built in 1966 by Geoffrey Cornish, the course will challenge you with a wide variety of good golf holes. The layout is nestled among hollies and pines and requires the use of a variety of clubs in your bag. It’s appealing to golfers of all levels and offers a great challenge to even the best players. Couples and families enjoy the course because it’s a fast paced round on a very manageable and enjoyable track.
The course has been rated one of Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” since 2004 and also prides itself on having one of the “Top 100” practice ranges (Golf Range Magazine) in the country. The course boasts big and fast greens, which is why a visit to the practice green is a good idea.
The first hole starts you off with a mid-iron to a large sloping green with the water on the right more a visual menace than in play. They say the hardest hole here is No. 9, a 202-yard par-3 (like all the rest) and the most intimidating is the seventh, because half the hole is a pond that seems to connect the tee and the green, stopping only to allow room for the left-side bunker. The toughest three-hole stretch is holes 14 (189 yards), 15 (188 yards) and 16 (211 yards), all requiring accurate long shots to well-bunkered greens. The longest is number 16 at 211 yards.
The clubhouse at Holly Ridge offers a small but well-stocked pro shop and a comfortable restaurant and bar. Enjoy lunch out on the back deck or patio. Holly Ridge is also a wonderful venue for group and family outings. The staff is eager to please and will help you enjoy an exceptional golfing experience on Cape Cod.
