The rebirth of Bay Pointe as “the friendliest public course with the best greens in Southeastern Massachusetts” has been nothing short of phenomenal. New management in place since spring of 2005 is headed by one of the Cape’s renowned superintendents, Russ Bragdon, who single-handedly transformed Hyannis Golf Club into one of the best conditioned layouts in the Mid-Cape area prior to leading Bay Pointe’s renaissance.
In addition to offering the smoothest and slickest putting surfaces, Bay Pointe features the diabolical island green 7th hole, and a location to die for – just a half mile from the warm waters of the expansive Onset Beach. For golfers coming to and from the Cape itself, Bay Pointe is 2 miles from the Bourne Bridge.
The golf course at Bay Pointe CC boasts a wide variety of holes, built to tempt advanced players with shortish par-5s and some reachable par-4s – but in contrast challenging all levels of golfers with four long par-3s, which are considered the key to scoring well at Bay Pointe. Moreover, Bay Pointe is one of the easiest walking courses in the region. Riding carts are never mandatory.
What makes this course a must play, particularly in the summer months, are the cooling breezes just over the 10th green coming off Buzzards Bay, which also acts as a warming influence in the colder months – giving Bay Pointe #1 destination status for New England’s winter golfers when virtually every other course is closed.
Lastly, Bay Pointe has remained faithful to fair prices throughout the year, and features the best deal in the Cape region on Wednesdays - $29 per person which includes cart fee!!! Great greens, great prices and great service all add up to a wonderful day on the links when you discover the unique world of Bay Pointe in the heart of Onset Beach Village.
